Eat This, Not That!

School is back in session, and that means it’s back to trying to keep our kids on track with healthy eating! Busy schedules and packed days can make that “easy” task seem quite daunting! I wanted to put together a few ideas that are fun, easy, and healthy alternatives that kids will actually eat and enjoy!

It May Look Good, but It Isn’t Good for You!

There are so many foods out there that look good and claim to be good for you, but it’s important to educate yourself on the foods that really pack nutritional value instead of just empty calories and excessive amounts of tooth decaying sugars!

Here are a few options I like that are better choices when it comes to mealtime!

Breakfast:  Instead of Pop-Tarts and sugary cereals, try blending up a smoothie! It’s quick and much healthier than the alternative. We like this recipe for an oatmeal-and-pear smoothie!

Oatmeal-Pear Smoothie:

1 chopped pear

½ cup almond milk

¼ cup yogurt

¼ cup oats

1 cup ice cubes

1 tablespoon almond butter

1 pinch cinnamon

Lunch: Kids have a hard enough time trying to keep themselves away from all the things that aren’t good for them; why not make lunchtime easier and healthier with this fun and healthy space-themed lunch idea?

And every parent knows that the minute our kids step into the house they are like ravenous animals so that after-school snack is equally important! I really like this idea.

Fun, Creative, and Healthy!

Getting our kids to eat healthy isn’t always easy, but there are plenty of ideas we “sneaky” moms can use to ensure our kids are getting plenty of healthy food options, even if they don’t realize it! 😉
