Partnering with Parents to Create a Lifetime of Healthy Dental Habits

Meet Dr. Randy

Dr. Randy received his DMD degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1996. He then completed his two-year residency training in pediatric dentistry at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Dr. Randy believes that good oral health is an important part of your child’s total health care. To help your child stay healthy, we work with pediatricians, specialty medical doctors, and other dental specialists. We believe that all children are best served through this team approach.

We love working with kids.

Our office will do its best to schedule appointments at your convenience. We find that young or anxious children have a better experience in the morning. At this time of day, children are well rested, refreshed, and more cooperative.

School-aged children can be scheduled throughout the day for routine visits. Sedation appointments are only scheduled in the morning. We would appreciate a 48 hour

cancellation notice.

Payment for professional services is due at the time dental treatment is provided. This includes deductibles and

co-insurance. We accept cash, personal checks,

and most major credit cards.

We create an individualized treatment plan for all patients. Our treatment coordinator will review the recommended treatment and the estimation of your dental insurance reimbursement.

Every effort will be made to provide a treatment plan that fits your timetable and budget and gives your child

the best possible care.

first visit

What You Can Expect

At Dr. Randy’s office we want the first visit for our patients and our parents to be informative and comfortable. We want you to feel welcome and relaxed from the moment you walk through our doors!

With seventeen years of experience, you can be reassured that you’re not just seeing a general dentist. Rather, our patients will be seen and treated by a board-certified Pediatric Specialist.

We also want to do our best in helping our patients and their parents feel prepared for their first visit. That’s why we offer a kids questionnaire they can fill out and bring with them so that Dr. Randy and his staff can get to know each of their patients better!

Before your first visit, if you would like to download the New Patient Forms and bring them with you at the time of your visit, you can do so by downloading the forms below. Or if you prefer, we can mail the forms to you as well!

What Your Children Can Expect

We like to see our patients for their initial visit when the first tooth has become visible above the gums, or by their first birthday. Dr. Randy offers a Free Well Baby Screening for all children up to 18 months of age.

Dr. Randy and his staff are the very best when it comes to making your first – and every visit after – a positive and outstanding experience. We go above and beyond to explain steps and procedures that will take place during the initial visit. We ask that our parents try to refrain from using words and terms that may sound big and scary, such as: “needle”, “pull”, or “drill”. We like to use silly euphemisms that are pleasant and non-threatening, but still convey the same message. This helps avoid your child avoid unnecessary anxiety.

Establishing rapport with our little patients is our number one priority. By fostering a comfortable, fun environment, we can educate our patients (and their parents) on the importance of great dental hygiene. Learning proper brushing and flossing is something they will take with them the rest of their lives. Good habits start early!

During Your First Visit

We understand that children may exhibit a uncharacteristic level of negative behavior during their initial visit. Separation anxiety will soon diminish and it is not a major cause for concern. We recommend, but don’t require, that our parents remain in our lobby during a visit. Studies and experience have shown that most children over the age of three react in a more positive manner when they feel “grown-up” enough to experience the visit on their own!

PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY

Dr. Randy is a  pediatric dentist, specializing in the treatment and prevention of dental disease, as well as the overall oral health of children. Through extra years of schooling, training, experience, and certification, a pediatric dentist is uniquely qualified to treat the dental needs of infants, children, and adolescents.

A pediatric patient not only has a different dentition than adults but he/she may have specific dental and behavioral needs that are unique to a child. These needs may include orthodontics, dental sealants, fluoride applications or home treatments, or just simply education in oral hygiene. In addition to treating existing dental problems, our office focuses on prevention through patient and parent education.

We like to feel that you and your child do not come to our office to have their “cavities fixed” but rather to prevent them. Our mission is to provide all of the educational tools necessary for our patients to enjoy a cavity-free future.

When a Pediatric Dentist is Board Certified it means that the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry or ABPD certifies that the dental care being provided is based on standards of excellence that lead to high quality oral health care for infants, children, adolescents and patients with special health care needs. Certification by the ABPD provides assurance to the public that a Pediatric Dentist, like Dr. Randy, has successfully completed accredited training and a voluntary examination process designed to continually validate the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to the delivery of quality patient care.
