Did you know that soda sales have dropped in recent years. In response to consumer concerns, PepsiCo is removing aspartame from all of its Diet Pepsi products in the U.S.: Diet Pepsi, Caffeine Free Diet Pepsi, and Wild Cherry Diet Pepsi.
Diet Pepsi first hit shelves in 1964. Back then, it was sweetened with saccharin. In 1983, Diet Pepsi was reformulated with aspartame. In 2013, Diet Pepsi switched to an aspartame/ace-k blend. By August, 2015 Diet Pepsi will be sweetened with ace-k and sucralose.
No More Aspartame
Let’s Drink Water Instead!
Regardless of what the studies say about the long-term effects of aspartame consumption, soda is a sweetly acidic drink that erodes the enamel of your teeth and increases your risk of tooth decay and cavities. We don’t want that!
Soda is especially harmful for kids, as their enamel is still forming.
And, if you’re looking for a calorie-free beverage, try substituting soda for flavored water! Add lemon, mint, or cucumber for a refreshing summer drink that is just as healthy for your mouth, as it is for your waistline!
