The holidays are a busy time for a child’s dentist. With the help of our great team, we managed to get through unscathed– and make our patients happy, to boot. 2016 is a new year and I’ve never been more grateful for my employees. I figured we’d start the new year off right with our next employee spotlight.
This time, we’re catching up with Chandi, our office manager. Every dental practice needs a great office manager. They’re the glue that holds everything together. I couldn’t imagine life without her.
Chandi has been with us since 2004, and she’s been an important part of our team ever since. She’s deeply committed to healthcare and loves knowing that we can help our patients maintain a great smile for the rest of their lives.
We asked Chandi a few questions about her life, in hopes that you’ll get to know her almost as well as we do. Though, if you’ve lived in Mt. Pleasant for more than a few years, there’s a chance you already know her!
Chandi has a unique nickname around the office, and it’s all because she’s been a part of our community for more than a few years.
“People may be surprised to know that I am a Mt. Pleasant native. It’s been fun to see my childhood friends and schoolmates come in to see Dr. Randy with their children. My coworkers tease me and call me “The Mayor,” because I know so many of our patients and their families from growing up here! I try to make everyone that walks through our doors feel like we’ve known them forever,” says Chandi.
She does a great job at making people feel welcome and included, and our patients can vouch for that. Her positive attitude and people skills are essential for a child’s dentist.
Chandi’s been with us since 2004, but what convinced her to get into pediatric dentistry for the long haul?
“I have just celebrated 11 years with Dr. Randy. I originally started out in the medical field during my senior year of high school, and I did that for many years before I made the decision to switch over to dentistry. I love children, so pediatrics was a no brainer for me. I have truly enjoyed watching our patients grow up here with healthy, beautiful smiles! I love seeing them out in public and, especially love it when they come over to speak to me. I really do love my job and consider Dr. Randy and my coworkers my 2nd family!” says Chandi.
The feeling is definitely mutual, Chandi.
Hobbies and Interests
Though we couldn’t live without her at our practice, Chandi does have a life outside of work. She told us what she does in her off-time.
“When I am not at work, I love spending time with my husband and 11 year old son. We love taking cruises, but if money was not an issue, I would love to go to Bora Bora. There is something so relaxing about those blue, tropical waters! I do love to read, but I don’t think I can specifically say I have a favorite book. I love reading young adult novels, even though I am no longer a young adult!” says Chandi.
Chandi laughed as she told me about her favorite books, but she’s right. There’s a lot of great young adult fiction out there that both parents and kids alike enjoy. I also agree that Bora Bora sounds very nice.
“My favorite food would probably pizza! I could eat it just about every day!” Chandi tells me.
I think most of our staff and our patients would agree. If there were no health consequences, we’d love to eat pizza every day, too!
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Chandi. From me, Cullan, and all of my team members, know we value you immensely. Without your office management skills, we’d be lost. You make a huge contribution to our success as a practice, and you make our patients happy every day.
Thanks for 11 amazing years, Chandi!
